Different journeys.One marketplace

Remoteplatz connected European companies and projects with a screened network of software engineers, designers and digital and marketing professionals. Companies needed to find, evaluate and engage remote talent. Applicants needed a path through screening, profiles and onboarding to opportunities. One product had to make sense from both sides.

Two perspectives on the same product

01 / The journeys

Give each side its own path

Companies and talent needed different information and different next steps. Treating those journeys separately where necessary was part of making them work together. The shared platform had to connect them without making either side think in the other’s terms. During my involvement, around 2% of applicants progressed through screening into the talent pool presented to companies. That selectivity needed to be understandable through the experience, not merely asserted.

02 / The decisions

Interface and system, considered together

Contributing to product development and UI/UX, and leading development for a period, meant looking at decisions from both sides: what someone needed to understand on screen, and what the platform needed underneath to support that experience.

Working closely with product, I helped move the early platform into production. Design and engineering decisions could develop together as the actual use of the marketplace became clearer.

03 / The growth

More use changed the problem

As adoption grew, individual flows were no longer the whole challenge. More companies, applications and talent depended on the platform, and the talent network broadened into a wider regional pool. The experience needed to remain understandable while the underlying system became more flexible.

Keep the two sidescoherent as they grow

Product engineering and UI/UX were connected responsibilities throughout the work. Supporting a larger marketplace meant reconsidering the experience alongside the structure beneath it, rather than letting growth make either side harder to use.

An early platform.An operating marketplace

Remoteplatz grew into a production system used by companies and an expanding talent network. The work helped support that adoption while keeping the two sides of the product connected.
